Tenant Handbook
Tornado
1. Check local weather reports to keep abreast of current weather activity in the area.
2. Monitor surroundings if a tornado “warning” has been issued. Some danger signs of approaching tornadoes are:
- Large hail during a thunderstorm
- Cloud of debris
- Funnel cloud
- Roaring noise (like a train)
- Clear skies and then a powerful thunderstorm
3. Notify employees, as able, if a tornado is sighted approaching the property.
4. Shut down unnecessary electrical devices as a safety precaution, if time permits and is deemed necessary.
5. Notify all staff to take cover in interior rooms, bathrooms and hallways and away from windows.
6. Continue to monitor the weather via radio and determine if the tornado has passed.
7. When the tornado has passed, and it is safe, check for any damage to your suite, such as broken windows or water damage, and notify building management.
