Tenant Handbook
Smoke and Fire
Procedure
If an alarm has sounded, all employees should exit their offices and follow Property Management’s or Public First Responders’ instructions. This may include complete evacuation to designated exterior assembly points.
If a fire or smoke has been discovered, the person who discovers the fire should:
- Pull a fire alarm pull station, if available.
- Contact 911.
- Notify Property Management or Security staff.
Tenants, upon hearing an alarm or announcement of smoke or fire, should:
- Initiate the evacuation of their area’s employees and any visitors to the designated exits or stairwells and await further instructions.
- If instructed, assist in evacuation to their assembly point outside the building.
- Account for their area’s employees, as able, to ensure that no one is remaining in the building.
- Summon a Local Public Responder to tend to any injuries.
- Report to Property Management if it is determined that any persons are unaccounted for.
- Remain at the assembly point and await further instructions.
